And the winner is...

...MAU! Congratulations! Mau correctly guessed three out of the four secrets on her first try. Coming in a close second with two out of the four secrets is Ke. And now, for the answers that everyone has been waiting for. Disclaimer -Please remember that when you get to secret number 4, I did not create the clues and never would have been able to come up with the answer. I thought it would be fun though, to see if anyone could get it!
-------------------------------------------
SECRET 1: Lug Nut

SECRET 2: Fan

SECRET 3: Cookie

SECRET 4: Stephano DiMera (Days of Our Lives)
------------------------------------------
I am heading to St. Simon's Island in GA this weekend and I am determined to bring Mau back a prize that you could only find in Georgia. I hope to suceed and have it in the mail to her by next week. Congratulations again to our winner and a thank you to the only two people who played the game. Maybe we will have a better turn out next time.

I guess I don't feel so bad not getting #4. If I got that right, it would not say much about how I spend my free time! I was sure I would have lots of competition. Ke, what happened to those wimpy boys?

I actually tried this, but I couldn't come up with a single answer for any of them. There are STILL a few clues that I don't get, even after seeing the answers. mau, did you google these or something?

I only used Google for #1 after I had a guess to check the clues that didn't seem to fit (like lug nut and key and lug nut and glue). Two I got on my own, but wasn't sure. For number 3, I got as far as knowing that the "string," "instructions," and "BUS" had something to do with computers or computer code before my librarian friend came up with the answer easily. (She is my most valuable reference.) I Googled the bejeebers out of #4 and only came up with Jason Robards (who is the fsther of 6, was on the USS Phoenix in Pearl Harbor, and (I think) was in a movie about Elvis). Yes, I wasted hours Monday night. What can I say? I'm a little obsessive. If I'd only known that no one else was really trying!

I know! I was very sad about the participation and will have words for my parents and Steven. I can't believe they didn't play. I know mom had the clues printed, but I guess she didn't have enought time to figure them out. When I played this I also spent hours on Google and came up with very little. You deffinitely have to have an idea of what you are thinking before you can Goggle it.

Ke, my team also guessed the Devil for number 4 and could not get past that. I think you have to be an avid soap watcher to have that one figured out.

Don't you think 3 could be a blackberry pearl? I thought that blackberries (fruit) are circles and can be dunked. The blackberry device is square, and pearls are strung. I was thinking of BUSlink for the device and the fruit travels by truck, and the other two clues go with the device. Only trouble is, I don't know much about blackberries; all I knew was that this was related to electronics somehow...oh well Mau--good job and you did it a lot quicker than I did. Actually, I thought that I was wrong with lug nut; that answer dawned on me as I was in the car being observant! For #4, I just gave the name Charlie Franks because he is a hypnotist who impersonates Elvis in Phoenix; I don't know how many kids he has or if he's villainous. Never would have gotten that one!

This was a very, very hard contest. I didn't get any, in fact, in the middle of the night I realized I forgot to post my answers and lack of answers.
Have a great trip to weekend.

Can someone tell me what glue has to do with lugnuts?

From the NASCAR pits:
The lugnuts are glued on to the wheels before hand with weatherstrip adhesive. It's a soft rubber cement that let's go of the lugnuts pretty easily when them air wrenches gets spinning. Each lug (the bolt coming off the hub that is threaded) has about 1 1/2 inches of extra length past the threads. This is narrower than the threaded part so it easily fits through the lugnut hole. When the lugnut hits the threaded part it stops as the wheel continues on to the hub. The lugnuts sit there on the unthreaded narrow part waiting for the speed wrench to hit it and thread it down tight.

Oh. That's good to know in case I ever get a job changing flats at Daytona. Now... what about fans made of skin?

Anonymous said...

Tern, those would be humans who go to such things as sporting events...

The Mad Tern said...

But people aren't MADE of skin. They are mostly COVERED with skin. Isn't that like saying apples are made of skin?

Anonymous said...

well, more than likely, they are talking about leather bellows or something similar.

Sorry! I have been really busy and just got back into town. I promise that it will be up before I leave on Thursday. I just have to clean a little.
